Sponsor 7 Q+As with Alice of Clark-Lindsey Retirement Village! Is it too soon for us to live here? Luxury, service, ambiance… way better than home!
1. What are you grateful for today?
I am grateful for so many things — family, health, friends, interesting work, freedom, civil rights, security, hope and love.
2. Tell us about one of your friends and what you love about her.
This woman is so accomplished and yet she recognizes the modest achievements of others. She is not judgmental, a good listener, and absolutely trustworthy. No one could have a better friend.
3. Describe one of the best days of your life.
There have been so many perfect days. But there is one I will never forget. We (my husband and I) were in Paradise Bay in Antarctic. It was a perfect sunny day and we were in a very small boat surrounded by ice (glaciers, ice falls, icebergs) and absolute silence except for the sounds of the ice. I had never had such an experience and haven’t since. I think it changed my life to know there is a peace that comes from silence and incredible beauty.
4. What’s the best lesson you learned from your mother/grandmother?
My mother was an inspiration in every aspect of my life. She believed in me and told me I could do anything I wanted to do. She taught me work, self-confidence, and not letting fear control my actions led to successful goals.
5. We’re all unique. What is your special gift?
I love life, people, and nature. I am eager to learn and rarely put limits on myself.
6. What could women be doing to make their community a better place?
Each woman is unique and what they contribute must come from them. For some rearing children who make contributions to society and for others it is being socially or politically actives. For others it is volunteering. All these contributions are important for our world.
7. What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
To be honest, I am not afraid of much anymore. I think as one ages, fear becomes less a part of our lives and our thinking. I do what I want (with constrains of physical and health issues of loved ones).
