Welcome to our new GNO (Girls Night Out) series, where we ask groups going to LadyFest weekend to share their stories back with us. Today’s guest blogger is Stacy Conlee who’s celebrating her birthday at She Said!
Four months ago I started planning my 40th birthday celebration. Vegas, of course. Who wouldn’t want to go to Vegas with their closest girlfriends and celebrate their 40th birthday in style? As I started planning, I realized how unrealistic this was for many of my girlfriends with small children and lots of responsibilities. The ultimate goal was to spend time with my girls.
My girls and I all share a common bond, which is South Side School. At some point in time we all taught there together. This bond has kept us together over the years and no matter how much time passes we are able to get together and pick up right where we left off.
You may be asking yourself what does this have to do with That’s What She Said? For the last two years a large group of us has attended the show together. It has been amazing. We laughed, we cried and laughed some more. The preview for the upcoming show popped up on my social media in the middle of my planning period and there was no way I was going to miss it. How perfect was that? Celebrating my 40th birthday with the That’s What She Said Show and my girls.
There are 12 of us going to dinner at Seven Saints and then walking over to The Virginia Theatre early to get seats together. The plan after the show is to do more celebrating and hopefully do a little dancing.
Who needs Vegas when you have That’s What She Said and my girls all in Champaign!
