    Jan Impey Bio
Jan Impey is a connoisseur of music and a master of enjoying the beauty in nature and people. A third generation graduate from the University of Illinois, Jan attained her bachelors (1949) and masters (1954) degrees both in music education. She spent 30 years in the Chicago suburban area teaching in public schools as well as being a minister of music at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights. More impressive than her accomplished career in music, is that after her divorce, she raised her two sons and they all survived.

Upon her retirement, Jan “left home” with her sons’ blessings and began an “ada-venture” by moving to Columbus, North Carolina, a small community, where she spent 13 very special years involved in a variety of enriching activities she never could have imagined. She directed the community chorus for ten years, for which she was named an Honorary Member of Rotary International, served on the boards of the Community Foundation and the Fine Arts Center, had leading roles in two plays and volunteered at the library.

In 2010, she moved to Clark-Lindsey Village in Urbana where she directs the resident choir, The ChoraLiers, and participates in a plethora of other activities.
