Mary Mahaffey is a Business Information Specialist at the University of Illinois. She spent most of her life growing up in Hong Kong, but lived in UK, Australia and Singapore following her father’s career. She attended Hong Kong City University where she received her Bachelor degree in Clinical Medicine. Soon after, she began a career in television journalism, working at Asia Television in Hong Kong until moving with her husband to the United States in early 2000.
Mary restarted her educational pursuits by obtaining both Advertising and MBA from the University of Illinois. During this time, she has been an active member of the local C-U committee, serving as a board member and president for the Chinese American Association of Central Illinois. She has also kept her journalism roots with the Champaign Chinese Magazine, interviewing local figures such as former University of Illinois President Bob Easter and Urbana Chancellor Phyllis Wise.
Mary has visited over 100 countries in her life through family, work, and school. She has a huge passion for travel and fashion, but most of all, loves spending time with her husband Brad and daughter Olivia.
