Kevin McGuire

Kevin McGuire

Director of Engagement

Kevin McGuire often cites bassoon school as the key to his success, but it’s probably more accurate to state that that key opened the doors which led to myriad experiences, opportunities and adventures in education, marketing, fine and performing arts — involving everything from prepping Madonna’s dressing room to directing a marching band in Los Angeles’ Martin Luther King Parade to attending conventions for bassoonists in Boulder, Las Vegas and Manchester, England.

As an account executive and creative consultant with SYNHERGY MARKETING, Kevin worked with local and national social media campaigns, across several platforms, helping bring awareness and action to important, sometimes life saving, projects. With over 25 years experience as a Union stagehand and stage manager, Kevin carries his “show must go on” mantra into all aspects of his work, taking great pride in helping co-workers and clients achieve maximum potential when the curtain goes up. Having participated behind-the-scenes on all That’s What She Said – Champaign shows, Kevin is extremely proud and honored to work even more closely with The She Said Project team, helping strengthen and empower individuals and communities through the exchange of stories, ideas and solidarity.

    Monica Samii

    Monica Samii

    Sponsor Coordinator

Monica Samii is a Champaign native. She started her acting career at the ripe old age of seven, appearing as Woodstock in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She has appeared locally in several productions over her many years with The Sunshine Dinner Playhouse, The Celebration Company at Station Theatre, Illinois Repertory Theatre, Champaign-Urbana Theatre Company, and The Urbana Park District. Monica had a short-lived career as a child actor both locally and nationally appearing in commercials for Cap ‘N’ Crunch Cereals and NutraSweet, and was the daughter in the Marketplace Mall promotional campaigns. As a graduate of Champaign Central High School, she was among several students who returned to dedicate The Little Theatre to Donald Decker. Monica attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where she studied Theatre Performance. After returning from Edwardsville, she immersed herself choreographing and directing with many different theatre organizations in C-U. Some of her favorite works include: Annie Kids with the Champaign Park District, Sweet Charity and Rent with Champaign-Urbana Theatre Company, and Five Women Wearing the Same Dress with Twin City Theatre Company. Monica is currently the EMR Informatics Analyst at Christie Clinic with a special focus on Patient Engagement. She is enrolled at Indiana Wesleyan University to finally finish her Bachelor’s in Marketing, hopes to pursue a Masters in Healthcare Communication, and might just be the epitome of “never too late.” She is also an active member of the Junior League of C-U.

To say that she is close to her family would be an understatement. She is fortunate enough to have her immediate family close by, adores being an Aunt to her four nieces and nephew, and is happy to share her life with the biggest love of her life, her daughter, Estella.

      Erin Tarr

      Erin Tarr

      Director of Teen Programs

Erin Tarr hails from Southern Illinois, but after receiving her bachelors degree in history education she decided to make Champaign her forever home. Her passion for personal development and education led her to start “Be the Benchmark” – an organization designed to empower girls by teaching them how to Choose their thoughts, Create their lives, and Change the world. Highlights of her life include: her wedding day in 2003; helping to start a new church and a new school in Chambana (both in 2004); the birth of each of her daughters (2008, 2010, 2015); an eye opening/life altering trip to Liberia, Africa in 2013; and starting a podcast in 2018.

She is married to her camp sweetheart (Adam Tarr – athletic trainer at Carle & Centennial), and raising three fierce girls (Adsen – 10, Finley – 7 & Logan – 3). As the definition of an extrovert she can be found all over town and all over facebook.

      Lisa Cerezo

      Lisa Cerezo

      Marketing & Web

Lisa is one of those people who can usually be found in a dark room somewhere, either coding a concoction for the internet or getting wrapped up in a good story on the stage or at the movies. She is a co-founder of ThirdSide, an award-winning web and graphic design company, and occasionally writes for a few blogs around the web, most recently Nerds and Beyond. She is also a staff writer and local representative for global nonprofit Random Acts, whose aim is to conquer the world one random act of kindness at a time.

Lisa and her husband Jason live in Illinois with their three sons (yes, just like the tv show). Sadly, their adventures don’t come with a laugh track. Yet.
