How much did we love hearing Karen Blatzer interview Jan Impey from Clark-Lindsey?! It was so delightful to see the interaction between these two strong and thoughtful women, while also hearing the adventures Jan has been on through her inspiring life. Well… We wanted more, so we had them both answer our 7 Q+A!

What are you grateful for today?
KAREN: I’m grateful for all the blessings God has given me including my parents’ guidance, my loving husband, our three beautiful sons, and our good health.
JAN: My ability to take care of myself in independent living at Clark-Lindsey, my family, and my health.
Tell us about one of your friends and what you love about her.
KAREN: When it comes to truly listening to others, being considerate and loyal, my friend, Jaime, takes the cake. She’s probably the most down to earth person I know and she always looks like a million bucks! Not sure how she does it.
JAN: I consider my sister as my best friend. Her zest for living is contagious; she is very caring, and she is always there for when there is need.
Describe one of the best days of your life.
KAREN: The day after my husband proposed. We were on a Disney cruise with his entire family when he popped the question late one night while we were on the top deck of the ship taking in the sights of Nassau, Bahamas. Before we shared our news with the rest of the family, we spent the next day by ourselves on Castaway Cay. We had a couple’s massage, rode bikes around the island, swam and just enjoyed the fact that we were going to get married and we were the only ones who knew.
JAN: Having the opportunity to experience something new, as well as realizing I may have had a positive influence in someone’s life. Taking time to play the piano. My fingers still work!
What’s the best lesson you learned from your mother/grandmother?
KAREN: My mother has battled many health problems, yet never complains. She has a strength I try to emulate, but often fall short.
JAN: Know who you are and be true unto yourself. There is always hope, for if you have the “faith of a grain of mustard, nothing will be impossible to you.”
We’re all unique. What is your special gift?
KAREN: I’m a party planner extraordinaire.
JAN: My musical talents.
What could women be doing to make their community a better place?
KAREN: Volunteering. We have so many worthwhile non-profit organizations here in Champaign County. It’s easy to find one that serves a need in our community and your interests at the same time. I find I tend to get much more out of the experience of volunteering than I put into it.
JAN: Women are so very involved in their environments. Keep up the good work.
What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
KAREN: Karaoke
JAN: Fear hasn’t stopped me yet.
