What are you grateful for today?
I’m reading Brené Brown, “Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it,” and am supremely grateful for her words & the peace they bring. (If you haven’t watched her TED talk on the power of vulnerability, do.)

Tell us about one of your friends and what you love about her.
Carmen Shaffer is beautifully fierce and gentle at once. I love how she gives advice with a You-KNOW-This-Already eyeroll that could never be misconstrued as judgement. If I call her tearful, I am soon laughing. (And the reverse is also true. Pro tip: Hang on to the ones who make you laugh ’til you cry.)

Describe one of the best days of your life.
The days that Arbella and Selene were born. I didn’t have an inkling of how life altering it would be to witness the birth of my daughter’s daughters — only joy, all love, and no stress.

What’s the best lesson you learned from your mother/grandmother?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have lots of “moms.” My Aunt Sharon has been showing me how to face down fear and loss quietly and with grace. Quiet grace has not always been my strength, so it’s about time I started practicing some.

We’re all unique. What is your special gift?
I’m a shape shifter.

What could women be doing to make their community a better place?
Tell the truth — to ourselves and to each other. (From where I sit, this is what TWSS is all about.)

What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
Stand back up. Go out in it. Trust again.
