1. What are you grateful for today?
Waking up without a migraine.

2. Tell us about one of your friends and what you love about her.
I really can’t narrow it down to one, because what I love about one is the same for all of them. My girlfriends are all cup half full people who live to the edge and gain as much out of each day as they possibly can. Even in the most depressing and emotionally draining situations they find the glint of good and walk into that light only to shine it outwardly from themselves onto those who surround them.

3. Describe one of the best days of your life.
The day I travelled out of the country attempting to be a designer and manufacture in Bali. I had never been overseas, let alone a 2 day 24 hour in air flight to the other side of the world, and this was back when Japan airlines still permitted smoking.  I arrived in the heat and sensory overload of Bali around midnight in the middle of rainy season . The cab ride through the unlit narrow backstreets to my traditional housing was better than any roller coaster, and due to the heavy rains, the walk to my bungalow was  three feet deep in water.I slowly sloshed my way to the white tiled porch, walked into the small room which held a mosquito netted bed, peeked at my open air bathroom filled with happy frogs, and relaxed in the place  I would call home for the next month. I sat on the bed and ate crackers and peanut butter (my mom says always have a small jar on hand when you travel—super smart), and learned my first cultural lesson. Don’t eat inside or you will have an ant party.  I was scared and overwhelmed, but after reading the note that my mom had tucked in my suitcase, I thought to myself…. I attack at dawn. Instead of being afraid to be on my own in a place where I didn’t even know where to start, I embraced a calm and curiosity that led me to design success.

4.  What’s the best lesson you learned from your mother/grandmother?
From my mom: You can do anything you set your mind to.
From my Grandmother: If you can read, you can cook.

5. We’re all unique. What is your special gift?
Being able to see a better picture.

6.  What could women be doing to make their community a better place?
Support the women who take chances, and show others that the measure of success is equal to the effort put in.

7.  What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
Meet Derek Jeter.
