Last week team She Said went to C-U Comedy‘s Ladies Night featuring five hilarious local women. You know we had to know more about them, and you’ll be glad we asked!

First up! Katie Prosise does improvisational comedy every Monday at 8:30pm with The Abe Froman Project at Mike N Molly’s. Friday, March 13 and 20 she will be at SoDo Theatre for Zoo Improv‘s show, and usually is in a play at the Station Theatre (or directs one) once or twice a season.

This Wednesday you can find Katie making space in the boys club at Memphis on Main doing stand-up, and we highly recommend you check her out!

What are you grateful for today?
I am grateful for the people in my life: my husband, my friends, and my family. They’re all a tremendous gift. I couldn’t stand on my own two feet without their support. I am also grateful for Netflix.

Tell us about one of your friends and what you love about her.
I love my friend Lindsay. She’s a teacher and a lover of words. She is so smart, it’s hard to fathom. She inhales books. She’s incredibly funny but doesn’t ever hog—or even want—all of the attention. She’s an incredibly loving and conscientious mother to her girls. I just adore her.

Describe one of the best days of your life.
The day I got married was not only one of the most fun days of my life, but it was one of the first good days I had had in months. A series of personal tragedies and stresses were put on pause. It was a creative, fun, loving, and joyous celebration of our life together. We had live music and speeches from friends and family; a singalong and homemade photo booth. Our friends were the DJ and photographers. The amount of time and effort that people put into our wedding… It’s overwhelming. I’ll never be able to thank everyone enough.

What’s the best lesson you learned from your mother/grandmother?
My mother taught me that I can’t control or change anyone.

We’re all unique. What is your special gift?
Humor is a multi-functional tool and I know how to use it. I can scale a fish in under a minute…

What could women be doing to make their community a better place?
Support each other. Spend time with little girls and listen to their opinions. Tell a woman what you admire about her.

What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
I would write a book.
