1. What are you grateful for today?
My family. Two beautiful children and one studly husband. As well as the current place of my heart, health, and mind.
2. Tell us about one of your friends and what you love about her.
One…hmm. I immediately think about the ones I don’t have to call every day or even every week. They are there when I need them and vice versa. There are no grudges or cat fights. Just pure people that respect family, God, and life.
3. Describe one of the best days of your life.
One of the best days of my life was my wedding day. I can still feel the weather of that day; 74 degrees and sunny. As I was walking down the aisle, my father told me he was proud of me for one of the few times in my life. Then, hearing my husband speak from his heart during his vows was an unforgettable moment. The dinner on the lawn and the music in the barn was the perfect cap to one of the best days of my life.
4. What’s the best lesson you learned from your mother/grandmother?
My grandmother was a wonderful lady. Strong, with a lot to say. The thing that stuck out to me was her sense of style. She would say, “If you want to be a lady, act like one. Don’t leave the house in your pajamas.” Oh, and Elvis was the king.
5. We’re all unique. What is your special gift?
Laughter – my husband says I have the ability to change a situation with my laugh. I think it comes from my spirit of love for people. I want to understand their story. I see much more within people then I think they see in themselves. When I can help people flourish – that’s when I feel my gift shines.
6. What could women be doing to make their community a better place?
We could help women learn what fashion means. Or better yet, help them define their personal fashion. We have a tendency to critique what the next person has on or what “label” they’re wearing, but fashion is about much more. By helping women understand fashion, we can help them build confidence. I know women wearing sweatpants don’t want to be wearing them. A lot of women don’t feel they can afford to be fashionable. Being a 24 year-old on a two child budget, I know it can be done. I would love to help women discover themselves through fashion.
7. What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
I would sing. I’m afraid to hear what I would sound like out of the shower.
